Foster Care & Permanency

Therapeutic Caregiver Training

Fostering Change for Children’s Therapeutic Caregiver Training model aims to deliver the core skills and competencies recognized by child welfare experts across the nation, and strives to do so through a unique model that allows agencies to take ownership of the learning process. By replacing curriculum-focused recertification with a coaching framework for skill development, FCFC creates space for parallel processes in which agency leadership, agency trainers, and staff/foster parents evolve alongside one another. By using a trauma-informed, participant centered approach to coaching trainers, FCFC aims to infuse this throughout the TCT model. Training and coaching can be delivered with flexibility in order to best meet the needs of agency staff and foster parents.

Families for Teens: Working to Achieve Permanency for Youth in Care

The Families for Teens program, created by Fostering Change for Children, is a training and coaching program designed for child welfare professionals of all levels and is intended to address some of the questions and challenges surrounding achieving permanency for older youth in foster care. It should be attended by child welfare professionals who work with older youth at risk of “aging out” of foster care without a permanent family.
